August 6, 2012- Platanos Fritos!

Hello my querida familia! Man time is flyin by! We got good news though! We are gonna have 2 baptisms this Saturday! So your prayers paid off! Jocelyn and Evelyne are gonna get baptized. They came to our English class one day and we started teaching them, and now a month later they are getting baptized! So we are super stoked for them!
But of course we started the week out with a killer District Class. It was given by the Zone Leaders because they had a one Leader Council. So it was cool. They talked about Pride and how it affects our ability to learn. It was great, and then we talked about how we can gain the confidence of the investigator in the first couple of minutes of the lesson. It was great! But we had a good day!
And Wednesday was pretty normal. I had a mini combio with Elder Wade. He came to our sector and we worked here. He was able to meet a couple key investigators. Omar and Jocelyn and Evelyne. We taught Jocelyn and Evelyn at a member’s house, and we talked about the importance of receiving an answer to their prayers to know that they needed to be baptized. It was great! And it was pouring rain outside to, so you can’t beat that.
Thursday in the morning we had a Leaders council with the Leaders from our Zone. Elder Wade Elder Tingey, Elder Rees and I all went to their house and we talked about a few key things in the Zone and some things we can get better at. And we did some practices, so it was sweet! And of course we ate some cookies and chocolate, haha. And then Elder Arancibia and Elder Falcon came and we headed home and we went to lunch and then came home and we started working. It was a good day though! We taught some good lessons. We found out that the son of one of the families we teach ran away. But they are doing ok we shared with them and they came to church so we were so happy for them!
Friday we did a little bit of planning for people we need to bring to church so that went good, and then we went to lunch. We also had a mini exchange that day. I worked with Elder Chagoyan in our sector. He is a stud, he is 18 and full of faith! He taught me a bunch. We taught Jocelyn and Evelyne in a member’s house and it was a good lesson. Sister Salazar shared a good testimony about the gospel, and as we were praying the thought came to my head to ask them if they had prayed about their baptism. I should of done it early, but I followed the impression and I asked and they smiled and nodded and said yes!!!!!! They said they wanted to be baptized on the 11th of August! So I am excited for them! Thanks for your prayers they helped for sure! And we taught a couple more lessons together and we found a new investigator that wasn’t so great, and we did a lot of contacts. Then we ended the night with some good planning.
Saturday we woke up and had some killer exercises and then we had a good study together we talked about the importance of leaving strong commitments with the investigators so that they keep progressing. It was great. And then we went out to work and we stopped by a less active and we taught her. And then we went to lunch and it was delicious! Then we went to the house to get Elder Chagoyans stuff to finish the mini exchange. Then Elder Arancibia and I walked back to our sector and we started working. We found a lady in this big apartment building. We were ringing the box of doorbells that every apartment has and usually they don’t let us in, but we got in and we taught her real quick. And then we left and I was outside writing something in my agenda and I looked up and there was a lady leaning outside her window and we started talking and she let us in and she was a less active. So we shared a scripture with her. So that was cool! Then we went and taught some other lessons. At night we were contacting this super rich part of our sector, and we rang a doorbell and we talked to a little girl and then her father came out and we talked for a second and then he let us in. And we taught a powerful lesson about the restoration and how families can be together forever and how we can be more happier on this earth by following the gospel and we committed him to baptism, but he didn’t accept. But the Spirit was so strong. We felt that we had done our part, but at least we left a good impression with him. He is leaving for New York today anyways for vacation,  haha.
And then good ole Sunday came around! We had Ward Council. So the office Elders picked us up. It was good we planned the baptism we are going to have so we were way excited for that. And we called all of our investigators to come. We ended up having 5 in church and 4 progressing so we were stoked! Lucas, Omar, Jocelyn and Evelyn and Paolo all came! So we were stoked for that!
And then we went to lunch, and then we went home and we did a little bit of planning and we went out and did some contacts and then we met up with Jocelyn and Evelyn to go to a family night. It was a great family night they were able to meet a bunch of youth from our ward. So it was way cool! And I fried up some green bananas. Something me and Elder Gil always did so they liked that. We watched the testaments movie, and sang some hymns so it was way cool! Then we went home and finished planning and I took numbers.
And then for P Day today we played some soccer! So that was fun. We played for a little bit with all of the Zone. The Assistants came, they have their P Days on Saturday but it was a Zone Activity so they came. And they took us there, and on the way back some other Elders came so we all pilled in the back of the truck. So it was pretty classic going 80 down the road weaving in and out of buses, haha. And I got my haircut because it was long too. And next Monday Elder Arnold the new Area President is coming to give a special capcitation to the Zone Leaders and a few District Leaders from the mission and I got invited so it’s gonna be way cool! I’m gonna take a bunch of notes in that one! So I’m sure I’ll have something good to say!  But have a great week everyone! I love you all!
