August 20, 2012 - San Carlos or bust!

Well transfers came! I’m heading out to the countryside! It’s called San Carlos in the city of Chillan(chii-john). So I am pretty excited. Transfers are the worst because all night you lay in bed thinking about it and you don’t have a clue what’s gonna go on! And everyone says stuff so you get a bunch of ideas in your head! So it’s crazy, but the call came this morning. And Elder Arancibia is gonna be training! He is a stud of a missionary! He is so great he is a whole different missionary then he was 4 and a half months ago. He is a huge example for me. He is a true Helaman Warrior.
But we had a great week this week. The Conference with Elder Arnold was great it was a great way to start out the week, and it gave me a new way to look at the way I need to serve my mission. Then Tuesday was District class. So we talked about obedience and we did some good practices!  So it was way cool. We worked hard this week and it paid off at the end of it. We found a bunch of new investigators. One of them is Krisna and her family. Her parents are less actives from a long time ago. Like 20 years and they haven’t gone for a while. It was a miracle. One day we were contacting and we found them and now we are trying to reactivate the family so that they can let their daughter get baptized. And they have 2 sons who are less actives but they are older like 24 and 29 one of them has little kids. One of them is going through some tough times Patricio. But we shared a powerful lesson with them and invited them to church. And on Sunday in the morning I had to finish writing my talk, and then we got ready and left to go look for some of our investigators. We went outside to get a taxi to go to Las Aguitas, but none came for the 1st couple of minutes so I said oh no this isn’t gonna be one of those times where you wait 30 minutes and nothing ends up coming. So we took off walking like in the Olympic fast walk Marathon! Because we would’ve arrived late to church, but a little past the half-way point one finally pulled up behind us, so we hopped in and got to Las Aguitas, and the lady and daughter that we had invited didn’t answer their phone so we went to their house at the tippy top of the hill. So we got there and the whole time it had been sprinkling so I was praying my little heart out that it wouldn’t rain because if it rains in Chile no one goes to church it all shuts down. So we knocked on the door and their little dog started barking. We knocked like 4 times and yelled. So we ended up leaving a note and some big pictures of Jesus Christ.
Then we walked down the hill and we walked up another hill to get the family that we are reactivating. Krisna and her parents. I had called them earlier and they said they were still sleeping and it is raining, but when I called we were outside and it was sprinkling. So I promised them some blessings and said it’s gonna be great! So we were a little unsure if they were gonna come. So we got to the house and we went to walk into the gate and the dad was in the bathroom doing something and he said they had already left! And we tried inviting him there but he didn’t want to come. So we walked down the hill, and we see them there, and we were super stoked! So we walked to church with them. And we got there and got everyone settled, and then we started sacrament. I had to give the first talk. I was as scared as ever like always. I talked about service and shared some ideas about that, and about how as we serve we become more and more like our Savior Jesus Christ. So it went well, and then after us 4 missionaries sang the first and fourth verse to High on a Mountain Top! ( woot woot represent Johnson family!) And it was great the ward always likes when we sing. And then Elder Caballero talked after me and we went outside to call our investigator Felicia and her daughter again and they said they were on the way to the church! So we ran down the steps and down the street and met up with them! So we were so excited for them. And they had a great time in church. The daughter Genesis loved primary and the mom liked the classes! So then we stayed after a little bit and we took some pictures, and then we got taken to lunch. And then after lunch we went home and changed, and then we went and visited Brother Bolaño. He is a great member. We helped him move some dressers and then we sang a hymn and talked about the mission a bit, and then we took a picture he is a great Latter Day Saint he is a true example of perseverance. I’ll always remember him. And then we went to the Marin`s house and we had a Family Night with Jocelyn and Evelyn. And then we went home and planned a little bit and then I took numbers like always. But it was a great week! We found some good people, and got a lot of good work done.
We had some missionaries stay in our house. The ones that are going to go home tomorrow. So then in the morning after a night of dreaming of where I thought I’d be going the call came and said where we were all going! So that was cool. And then I got up and did some things and started packing my suitcases to head out!
That’s about it for this week. Our biggest goal was to get some new people to church that haven’t gone before and we were able to do it thanks to the help of the Lord so we were happy to see that get done. He truly has blessed us these four and a half months we have been together. I told Elder Arancibia that he has a bed and a surf board if he ever comes to California. And he said I’m always welcome to go to his house in La Serena Chile. So we have had a great time together. We have been to the tippy top and passed through some pretty rocky times but we are soul brothers no doubt!
Well have a great week everyone! I hope everyone has a great time this week and that you enjoy the heat! I love all you guys!
les quiero,
 Elder Johnson
