March 23, 2011

Not much has gone on I love reading the Book of Mormon I get to read it everyday and everyday I learn something new.  I like to read about the trials the Nephites or Lamanites go through.  Then they get humbled or something or a prophet or missionary will come and tell them to repent and listen to his words.  It's the same story every time, and it's been that way for thousands of years.  This gospel hasn't changed one bit and it is TRUE!  That's why we are here though.  We have to teach people the doctrine of Christ.  Our purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them received the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end.  So we have to do that by helping them read the Book of Mormon and feeling the light of Christ and telling them that it is true.  We only have like 12 days left time went by fast here I got an email from someone from mission it wasn't the Mission President though.  He said not to let anybody take your bags for you when you arrive in Santiago because they'll just take them and my friend that just went to Vina then Del Mar Chile said he doesn't understand the people and he taught a guy while sitting on a bucket!  haha that will be sweet!  So I was looking at a map of the world and I saw that our mission is like the third or fourth most southern mission in the world.  There's Orsorno Chile where there is penguins and some parts of it touch Antarctica and Concepcion South, and maybe one in Australia or New Zealand.  I don't think they have any missions in Antarctica though pretty sweet.  We started teaching the plan of salvation in espanol.  It's pretty cool.  I still got a lot to learn I am probably gonna get shut down in Spanish when I get to Chile but it's alright I'm excited to learn and get better.  There is this teacher here who went to Chile he said some stuff in Spanish for us so I guess the people in Chile talk really fast and they cut out the letter d and certain words so they can speak fast it was pretty crazy and he said they eat a lot of tomatoes so I guess I gotta start liking them.  A lot of good times in here though it goes by fast one day it's Sunday and we're going to Priesthood meeting and then the next time you blink it's Thursday.  Time flies but I guess it because we are always working.  It makes it go faster.  We study for 3 hours everyday, and have a couple classes so you're always doing something.  I just wish I actually in Chile teaching a real person or something not a fellow missionary or something but it's good though.  It's good practice though I know if we didn't do these practices we would have no clue what we are doing here.
Love,
Elder Johnson
